How Federated Learning Works
The way federated learning works is you start with a global model and that model is shipped to devices. And these are fine-tuned on local devices, right, on their data. Only differentially private gradient updates are then sent back to the server. This was used primarily by health authorities at various US states and also EU nation states in an effort to safely navigate the pandemic.
