The History of Chilled Sauce in Southeast Asia
The most important and critical year as far as the arrival of lipeppers into southeast asia was 15 11, when the portuguese captured malacca. It probably took one or two decades at least before the people of malacca learned to embrace chili and started to grow it in their gardens and farms. And from malacca, chilies were transported far and wide across the region, including to china, where traders brought it to the east coast of china,. Where it travelled inland from there, and overland from burma, where the chilipepper entered china from the southwest. All in the 15 and 16 hundreds.
