The Universality of Being in the University
There was agreement throughout the 13th and 14th centuries that Christian philosophy in the university should be centered around the transcendentals. God is the proximate and transcendent subject that unites all learning as the unifying cause of that which exists in creation. If you didn't have that horizon open to God it would start to endanger the intelligibility of the unity of learning.
