Silicon Valley Bank - The First Domino

Silicon Valley Bank bought long duration bonds because they were chasing yield in a zero interest rate policy environment. They had to go sell them when depositors came and wanted to get their money out. Their deposits were not very high quality because they were concentrated in one industry, tech startups. A bank like JP Morgan got more into shorter duration types of assets.
