The Effects of Loaded Stretch on Muscle Growth
You can feel it squeezing even if you don't have weight. Lifting weight isn't the point. It's stimulating the cellular growth mechanisms. As your body tries harder, as your muscles try harder and harder, they end up producing a lot more metabolites,. Your body seems to use these as a signal for how fatigued you are - locally at the muscle. If it's detecting that you're being challenged, it will turn on growth mechanisms. We need more muscle to be able to do well at this.
