Imitation is an important part of the approach to philosophy in this period. I find that a very salutary aspect of the culture, the intellectual culture of this period. There is a place for passionate conviction of the sort that someone like Anskyn would have embodied. But there's something important and politically significant in this being a way in which we approach conversation.
