The Lombards, a Constant Attraction in the Book

The lombards had moved from somewhere out in the east, and they foundt is evidence that they were burying their dead in an area of northern germany. The apennines were a constant barrier which made it very difficult for the lombards to move further east. But these delombats were indeed another non roman people who settled in italy and built themselves an organization based on the wealth of the land. They too had been exposed to arian christianity, rather than the catholic variety. And so there was always that tension between the two sorts of christianity,. which were rivals with each other.
