Playing With Blighted Island in Horizons of Spirit Islands
I would recommend playing with Brandenburg at level one just going to add a little bit of spice and will also prep you to understand that adversaries are thing in the game. I'm not even sure does the base game rule book suggest you not play with blided island your first time. The blighted island card turns blight is one of the things that you can be losing on as they ravaged the land.
