The author's mother died when she was just 39 years old. She and her brother went back to find her ashes, which had been buried in a pauper's grave 20 miles outside of ann arbour. Her daughter named her first child after a woman she had never met. The writer is co-director with her husband at the mohammed a'lleatham film festival this year.
