The Role of the Prophet in the Book of Revelation

The book of Revelation is a form of revelatory literature. It's mediated by an otherworldly being, an angel, to a human recipient disclosing a transcendent reality which is both temporal and spatial. The second genre that's present is prophecy. And then the third I already mentioned is apocalypse or apocalyptic. This is the one that really encapsulates what the book of Revelations is.
