Charles Taylor's Liberia Report
CNN's John Defterios met Charles Taylor in 1994, a year after he started reporting for the BBC. He was "a rubber leader who contorted himself like an elected president," says Defterios. There were various agreements over the next couple of years, but security situation remained shaky. Eventually elections were held in 1997; defterios reports on that process.
