The Rise of Fatty Liver Disease

Liver disease is the second biggest cause of serious ill health among working-age people. Liver disease patients rarely have symptoms until it's too late, and they require an organ transplant. Austria has an opt-out organ donation policy but even in countries where these policies exist, the rise in fatty livers means that healthcare systems across the world may struggle to have enough healthy organs to transplant now or in future.
