The Acropolis is getting thousands of people per day. A lot of the last person of these people just want to take a selfie. Sometimes they don't really care about the monument itself. So I have seen people walking over the lines because they want to take that photograph. There are some sites which have designated pathways and walkways with a well marked, and you cannot deviate from them. But there are other sites where people can walk and sometimes we enter into areas that have sensitive floors or mosaics. This has to be aware when he enters a place. We may admire those places but at the same time we contribute to their decay and instruction - it's a pit.
