"I was so bitter and petty that they didn't let me just go straight into AP Chinese," she says of her parents. "When I finally was taking AP Chinese, I was just like, dude, this shit is like so easy." She took an extra year of Chinese school because she wanted to get it over with before going on to language school. But looking back, the kind of education she got from Korean school would be something she wouldn't trade in for anything.
