Is There a Restored Economic Unit of the Family?
It's interesting to me that we're seeing people like larry somers who are more or less calling for some kind of restoration of the fordes family ae. When capitalism is too successful, ah, interestingly, if capitalists aren't so interested in so called productive or incomgenerating investments, they're quite happy to sit on their renta incomes. And when that trade off between with consumer credit and rising asset prices in houses becomes unworkable, it becomes politically very dangerous. We do find ourselves in a situation very similar to the 19 thirties, in the sense that the problem is the disinflation of wages.
