The History of Cyrillic Alphabets

The Cyrillic alphabet is still widely used today, but it provokes contest and controversy even in the contemporary world. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, people have started to kind of turn on Russia. So there is this turning away from this former world power in the face of Russia. The abandonment of Cyrillic for Latin points to a kind of homogenization, I think, of world alphabets that's happening more generally.
