Brian Scordato: To be successful, nearly every startup will need to solve a wedge problem for their customer. Wedges are a mental game; how far from your core product should you go? What strategic and what's sapping your precious time? If you're going to sell smoothies out of a food truck, should you first help people find parking in the city or build trust? Is that too far away from smoothies? Does that really solve a problem? Would that just be a different full-time job?
Today, we're going to talk about one of the fundamental laws of startups - The Wedge. It's the best way to build trust when you have a product that's got a longer feedback loop or requires a lot from your early customers. We'll show a few examples and build out a framework to help guide you when you're looking for, and implementing, a wedge.
