Aeschetic, i think, is putting himself right in harm's way. If he thinks that what's really valuable in life is virtue and knowledge, which may or not be tesan thing, then he might think that it was just as much a mistake to value, for example, hunger goro than avoiding food. That would be somebody who, by that very attitude, was putting far too much emphasis on the physical wher socrates thinks no, it doesn't matter one way or the other.
