The Independent State Legislator Theory

The Constitution grants state legislature's power to set the rules for federal elections. According to the theory, neither the governor of a state nor its courts have any ability to intervene. Theory harkens back to something that the Trump campaign was trying to do in the 2020 elections with trying to get states to certify their own slate of electors rather than what voters decided.
