The Duty of Happiness
In the enlightenment there's a sense that people have a right to pursue their own happiness and not to live lives of great suffering but something happened that turned that into a duty. How did we pass from the right to be happy to the duty of happiness? I think the moment the historical movement is in the 60s for two reasons first reason is that the economic system claim to work for our happiness. There are no more religions or social class that prevent us from being happy it's not a scandal today to be happy so between me and my happiness the only obstacle is myselfI'm my own enemy am I worst enemy so I have to work on myself, he says.
