It's possible over time that we get back into the situation where Tory MPs start to rebel against party discipline and it becomes clear that he can't command a majority. At that point, it's going to be very, very hard for the Tories to run yet another leadership election. The moral case for a general election will become almost unarguable but I'm not predicting that. It's perfectly possible that Mr Sunak runs from now through to a general election which is scheduled to happen by January 2025. But I also wouldn't be confident in that timeframe. There is an awful lot for him to get right if he is going to stay in office for that period of time - let alone winning
