Geography is destiny talking about absolutely any part of the world. And you can say geo determines whether you go down the path toward becoming a democratic, industrialized nation state or if you go down a path toward being a larger empire. Once the sea levels rise and cut off the islands and their geography is now going to be different from mainland continental powers. All of a sudden, britain is not the edge theworld any more.
