The Importance of Causation in Hume's Philosophy

Hume is very influenced as a lot of other Scottish mathematicians and philosophers are, by Newtonian mechanics. And Hume models the mind really, on a model of Newtonian mechanics, which seems very definitive and scientific. The difference between Barclay and Hume really is that Hume cheerfully admits that you suspend your skeptical disbelief the minute you walk out of the door, and Barclay doesn't.
