Guitar Shapes and Open Strings

Guitar is a very geometric kind of an instrument. You can slide your fingers around and suddenly be playing something dramatically different. An open string just means you're not doing anything to it. It's just ringing out. A lot of basic guitar voicings have open strings. The difference between, you know, an open ac cord with a lot of open strings, and a cord with entirely fingered and closed strings is kind of thedfference between them.
