What Happened to the Troopers?
The men died 11 miles short of their major supply depot. The run up to that was that there were problems with they'd chosen to rely more heavily on pony transports and motorized sleds. They basically had to do a great deal or man hauling than was originally intended. So this basically didn't leave them with a lot in the tank.
