How Many Friends Should I Have? ‘A Lot,’ says Thomas Aquinas | Fr. Aquinas Guilbeau, O.P.

Are the Persons of the Trinity Friends?

Aquinas says charity is simply because its charity doesn't neglect these real distinctions that we find in the natural world, the natural order. And charity elevates and perfects them all of those distinctions under the exercise of charity. So in regard to the enemy, it's not that we are to become friends with them, because charity doesn't require that we become friends with everybody. In loving the enemy, which charity requires is that we love in the enemy what is good about him or her. Does that make sense? I might be a heretic to say that, but I don't look at a little more Trinitarian theology, but I think that would be right.
