What the Brain Looks Like in the Adults?

You can't know a priori what the mature brain is going to look like, so you have to start from the bottom. From conception up until at some point, there are these extremely stereotyped processes that occur. What the brain looks like in the adults is kind of an emergent property. It's interesting that we were talking earlier about trying to create a map or a connectome. I just find it hard to understand or imagine what that would look like for an adult brain unless what the map really is showing is not literal connections of networks, but rather as a representation of potential for creating connections.
