The Problem With Regulating Devices
Dr. Wright: There's been a lot, both in the scientific and the lay press about some of the difficulties with regulating devices. The level of evidence that's required before a device or a new procedure can be used in clinical practice is certainly much lower than for drugs. He says there have been many devices where safety concerns have been raised once they've already been in widespread use.
