The Moral Majority and Abortion

Saturday was International Safe Abortion Day. The moral majority formed specifically to lobby to end abortion, reinstate school prayer and force men and women back into traditional gender rules. Their goal was nothing less than to legislate fundamentalist Christian morality is the law of the land. It wasn't until 1969 that evangelical leaders seized on abortion as a rallying cry to deny President Jimmy Carter a second term.
