The Importance of Industrialization in the Revolution
Mao Zedong famously took the capital Beijing and gave a speech announcing in October 1, 1949 that the people of China had stood up. This marked the end of what is known as the century of humiliation, when China was partially colonized by numerous foreign powers. The new revolutionary leaders of China wanted to turn the country into an advanced industrial power.
