Is There a Complimentary Currency?

I agree that if we acknowledge that Bitcoin is a system that were the incentives for the base layer technology align, then I think that people can attempt to do whatever they want to try to do with building things on top of Bitcoin. So you're absolutely right that we should be supporting the development of multiple possibilities and whichever one is the most successful. But more than that, I want to know what your thoughts are around why you might actually do as Diogenes the great kind of in a similar direction like why you might need a complimentary currency.
