The Delian League and the Persians

The first recorded action of the Delian League was aimed at the Persian occupied city of Aeon, which sat on the mouth of the Strimon River and Thrace. Kaimon quickly expelled all Thracian collaborators from the region in order to starve the Persians into submission. With this campaign, the Greeks liberated the sea, and we won't hear about piracy in the Aegean until the Roman period.
