The Perverse Logic of Calhoun in American History
If you're unwilling to acknowledge the work of white supremacy in American history, then you can sort of like take Calhoun and do whatever you want with them. No one is more Calhounian than modern day conservatives, right? Like the fear of majority rule and all the anti-democratic elements of our constitution. Those are the parts Calhoun would have liked, right? He thought they didn't go far enough. And you know what Calhoun would not have liked? What? Black lives matter. Yes.
