Harriet cole carved out an intersection in media that only she could occupy. She sat at the intersection of spirituality, style and black culture. And i just thought, you can do that. How do you do that? Only opera gets to do that. So i doggedly pursued her. I wrote her snail mail. I wrote her e mail. I found her assistance phone number. It was a place that allowed her to be her authentic self across a number of mediums for the upliftment of women of cove color. Elaine Welteroth is a New York Times bestselling author, an award-winning journalist and a producer and judge on the new Project Runway.
