The Role of Stem Cells in Parkinson's Disease

Stem cell-based projects have the promise of curing Parkinson's disease forever. Most drug discovery right now has been focused on halting death of remaining 20% of dopamine neurons. Scientists are trying to understand what goes wrong inside cells of patients that have defective torsin. Torsin protein is very critical for regulating how these cells can manage hip stress. We found it serves as a protective role against preventing different types of stress, including those associated with misfolding and aggregation.
