There's been a very significant switch in the way that things are made. Instead of people dovetailing, working at home with managing a cotton garden or something, now they're going into the factories. And it's the beginning of modern working patterns where we're effectively paid for our time rather than for what we managed to get done. But there was a preference for people to work in the factories rather than to stay in the countryside and lousy conditions.
