Climate Change and the Carbon Pools in the Forest
When you have replete climates with very good climatic conditions, there's more tree species. And then as it gets drier and drier and more harsh, you have fewer tree species. But tree species richness isn't the only thing. When we look at the full suite of species, all through from the top of the trees down into the soil, this is the carbon pools in our forest. Those are so precious to us with climate change. We can take off the above ground and harvest it and turn it into toilet paper. But we need to make sure that that below ground pool is really stable and safe in the ground too.
