The first wound is the belief that other people do not care or have concern for your overall well-being. When we can't trust people around us, we don't feel safe and secure in this world. The safety wound is a really delicate and tender one. It's so easy to feel resentful about your childhood. But then when you talk about the safety aspect of it, it's like Erin and I were safe. We did have two parents who loved us. Okay, fine. A lot of the time, but it wasn't really.
