The Hague Convention is a multilateral treaty. It aims to ensure the swift return of children who are not normally living in that country. When a child is abducted abroad by a parent, neither the police nor the British courts have any jurisdiction. Anna's second call after the police is to her lawyer, but she's going to need an expert. So her lawyer puts her in touch with a man called Simon Craddock. He advises on international child abduction - which is a highly specialist subject. And now he's taken the boys thousands of miles from where they're meant to be and in doing so he's broken court orders. We were able to clarify quite quickly that there was potentially a criminal offence
