I think maybe it's a weak history we've got this idea that as it were modern art was all appreciated at its own age yes yeah. I mean you get to the point where people are going to Kettle's Yard in 1970 and looking at Ben Nicholson from the 1920s he's going oh it's a bit racy and a bit modern isn't it.
