I think maybe it's a weak history we've got this idea that as it were modern art was all appreciated at its own age yes yeah. I mean you get to the point where people are going to Kettle's Yard in 1970 and looking at Ben Nicholson from the 1920s he's going oh it's a bit racy and a bit modern isn't it. It takes takes a long time to catch up but things did move more slowly than they do now. The patron who gives not just money but actually time, attention, understanding, listening to an artist taking them seriously encouraging them asking them questions is very important. We often don’t think about enough of the patron who gives
