Is the Next General Election a De Facto Referendum?
I think it's a big part of it. She was basically saying, I need to free the party from the idea that they must stick to my plan pathway forwards. The SMP vary active internal discussions within the party itself about what the right path to independence is. They might water it down to the point of saying, this is a campaign in which if you vote for the SMP, we will regard it as a vote to have a referendum. But I can't see them really now. Nicholas Sturgeon having rolled back using that general election campaign to say if you get over 50% of the votes in Scotland can simply open negotiations with Westminster government.
