Every centimeter is packed with instrumentation cables and pipes for cooling water. The innermost sensers, silican picles, like you have in your camera, almost touching the colliding beams. Each time a bunch of protons collides, so as something like one point seven, ten to he 11, that's 70 thousand million protons in each bunch. And these collide at the rate of forty million times a second.
