The people of God are also called to be a future old people, right? We pray every single day, thy kingdom come. But I think as you point out, let's call it for lack of a better term. Progressivism is I think another refusal of grace. It assumes that the future wholly and entirely depends on our ingenuity.
If only you had 15 more minutes, or were 5 years younger, or a year into the future — then, things would be better. Maybe even *you* would be better.
But maybe time is more than a sparring partner. More than something you curse or see as a thief. It might just be an integral part of what it means to be human.
