The Purpose of Private Ownership

Weblin divided capitalism into two separate processes, the first he called industry. Left to its own devices, industry would simply produce goods for people. Unfortunately, capitalism is defined by private ownership. This is what veblin calls business. Business is a system of power that extracts wealth from industry through means of sabotage production in order to serve human need. It does this by taking control of industry and its products and en restricting access to it.
