Do Alternatives to Corporate Profit Measures Have a Role in the Future of the Economy?
Rick Steves: I think there's been a shift in thinking among elites that not everything that is measured is what matters most. He says maximizing GDP is not the root to kind of you know building a long-run social consensus about how we're doing things right. Steves thinks it'll be difficult to imagine elites coming up with some sort of all-encompassing measure which everyone agrees on. But he believes people will recognize that there's more to corporate responsibility than just in profits and one at least has seen an impact from Michael Porta's social progress index.
