In 11 out of 12 visits, the patients were diagnosed with schizophrenia. When they left, when they were determined to be able to return to society, they weren't labeled sane or cured or mentally healthy. They were labeled as having schizophrenia in remission. Once you're labeled insane in our society, especially in the middle of the 20th century, you were insane for the rest of your life. It's just, you might not be actively insane at the moment.
