What Is Social Safety?
Social safety is a sense of just basic social connection, acceptance, inclusion and protection. The brain treats that emotional threat of rejection like a physical wound. And so when we tell people who feel uncomfortable somewhere, oh, come on, you're being over sensitive, from the perspective of the evolved human nervous system, there is no such thing. Nothing is as threatening to a human being as the rejection of the social group. It is life or death. We carry that noral priority our guts.
