Is Salbutamol for Hyperkalemia a Good Medicination?
There's some reasonable bit of support for it when we look at the cockron review from 2015 there was one that actually looked specifically at pharmacological interventions in the treatment of hyperkalemia. There were no studies that looked specifically at preventing clinically relevant outcomes so things like mortality and cardiac arrhythmias but they did find evidence that demonstrated a reduced serum potassium level with inhaled salbutamol compared to placebo. The issue for paramedics in the uk is that it is one of the few medicines for which we don't have a legal exemption that means that we're therefore reliant upon the pgds written by our organizations.
