What Was the Most Controversial Change in the Budget?
The most controversial change was eliminating the 45 pence top rate of income tax, which applies on incomes over 150,000 sterling. The Office of Tax Simplification failed to do anything significant because it wasn't a political body and may be why it's being abolished. We should probably talk about some other tax comps - one of them was a national insurance increase from last year. And we're getting into serious money now with something like 18 billion costs every year for corporation tax.
