00:00
Introduction
An anthropologist named doctor helen fisher studies love. She's been at it for more than forty yearsand she says love is very simple. Dessa learned that there is a place at the very bottom of the brain called the ventral tegmental area that becomes active when people are in love. Doctor fisher calls it the reptilian core of the brain, associated with wanting and with craving. In one experiment they looked at the brain activity of 17 people who were in love and felt that they were loved in return. And then they looked at 15 people whohad just been broken up with, but said they were still in with the person.
